👋 What is Pop Up LA?

Pop Up LA is a discovery-first events platform. We help locals and visitors find pop-ups, brand activations, food festivals, immersive experiences, recurring markets, and permanent venues — all in one feed. We give organizers a dead-simple way to publish events, take RSVPs, manage paid tickets without taking a cut, and grow a real audience.

We started in Los Angeles, but the platform supports any city. If you're an organizer in NYC, Miami, Dubai, Tokyo, or anywhere — your events show up here too, with city / state / country filters that respect where your guests actually are.

Discover events the way you want

• 🎯 Grid view — endless scroll of every live event with NEW badges (added in the last 48 hours), Editor's Picks (hand-curated must-sees), and visual cards that show date, neighborhood, price, and capacity at a glance.
• 📅 Calendar view — see what's happening today, this weekend, or any specific date. Click a day to see only that day's events.
• 🗺️ Map view — interactive Los Angeles map with every event geocoded. Filter by neighborhood (DTLA, Arts District, Melrose, K-Town) and see what's near you.
• 🔍 Filters — one button opens detailed filters: event type (single-day, recurring, permanent spots), category (foodie, beauty, K-pop, gaming, vintage, immersive art, and 15 more), location, this weekend only, and bookmarked-only.
• 🔥 Live / Ended — quick toggle to hide events that already happened, or browse the archive.

RSVP and lock in your spot

• One-tap RSVP — click Going on any event with an RSVP system. We auto-fill your name, email, and phone from your profile so you can confirm in seconds.
• Tier picker — events with multiple ticket tiers (VIP, General Admission, Free GA) show all options before you commit. Mix free and paid tiers in the same event.
• QR code for entry — once you're confirmed, your QR code is ready in My RSVPs. Show it at the door for instant check-in.
• Waitlist — full event? Join the waitlist. The organizer gets notified when you join, and the system can auto-promote you (or the organizer can manually pick anyone in the queue).
• Edit or withdraw — change your tier, switch from Going to Maybe, or withdraw entirely. The organizer is notified in real time.
• Real-time updates — if the organizer cancels the event, you get an instant push notification + a system message in chat with refund info.

Stay in the loop

• 📖 Bookmarks — save any event for later. Filter your feed to bookmarked-only.
• 🔔 Notifications — push notifications for RSVP reminders, event changes, organizer messages, friend activity, and waitlist promotions.
• 👥 Social proof — see which of your friends are going to an event right on the card.
• 💬 Direct messaging — chat with the organizer for payment confirmations, accessibility questions, or general inquiries — no need to dig up email.

The Party Wall

A community feed where members post recaps, photos, recommendations, and reactions to events they actually attended. Like, comment, share. Think of it as the after-party — the moment the event ends, the conversation continues here.

Post in under a minute

• Smart event form — title, address (with auto-complete), event type, dates, categories. We auto-extract city, state, neighborhood, and zip from any address you type.
• Image upload — drag a flyer, get a 1200×630 hero on every card and detail page. Compressed and CDN-served for speed.
• Rich description — bold, italic, underline, bullet lists. No markdown to learn.
• Three event types — Single/Multi-Day pop-ups, Recurring (weekly farmers markets, First Friday gallery walks, monthly fleas), and Permanent Spots (museums, immersive venues, year-round experiences).
• 20+ categories — foodie, K-pop, beauty, fitness, gaming, vintage, nightlife, kids & family, premiere, festival, and more.

Take RSVPs without the headache

• Toggle RSVP on or off — for casual events skip RSVPs entirely. For real events turn it on and get capacity tracking, waitlists, and QR check-in.
• Capacity controls — set unlimited or a hard cap. Once you're full, new RSVPs go to the waitlist automatically.
• Tiers / Timeslots — VIP + GA running at the same time, or split the day into morning / afternoon / evening sessions. Each tier has its own name, time window, capacity, and price. Drag to reorder them.
• Free + paid tiers in one event — a Free GA tier alongside a paid VIP tier? Yes. Each tier has its own paid toggle.
• Waitlist modes — auto (next person up gets the spot when one opens) or manual (you pick from the queue, useful for VIP events).

Run the door

• QR scanner — point your phone camera at a guest's QR code. Instant check-in, duplicate-scan detection, scan log per event.
• Manual check-in — search by name from the guest list and tap to check them in. Great for guests who lost their phone.
• Live guest list — search, filter by RSVP status (Going / Maybe / Pending Payment / Waitlisted), and bulk-mark groups.
• Co-hosts — invite up to 5 co-hosts who can manage RSVPs, scan, and message guests alongside you.

Manage and grow

• Edit anytime — change tier prices, add timeslots, update payment instructions. Guests see updates instantly.
• Cancel + refund coordination — one click cancels the event, sends push notifications, drops a system message in every guest's chat with you, and shows refund info on their RSVP page. The event stays in the system so you can keep messaging guests until refunds clear.
• Broadcast messaging — push a message to all Going / Maybe / Waitlist guests at once. Useful for last-minute address changes, weather updates, dress code reminders.
• Reports — fill rate per tier, payment summary, scan log, dispute log. Export to CSV.
• Editor's Pick boost — submit standout events for editorial curation. Picked events get pinned to the top of the feed.

🏢 For Brands & Organizations

If you run more than a few events a year — a venue, a brand activation team, an agency, a recurring market — you can claim an Organization profile.

• Org storefront — a public profile with your logo, cover photo, bio, social links, and every event you've thrown (live + past).
• Multi-user team — invite team members as admins or managers so multiple people can post events under one brand.
• Followers + push — when followers tap Follow, every new event you publish triggers a push notification to them. Build a real audience that opts in.
• Loyalty cards + QR rewards — issue digital loyalty cards. Guests collect stamps at your events with a QR scan. Set rewards at any threshold (10 stamps = free drink, 5 stamps = 20% off, etc).
• Customizable digital flyer — your event's detail page becomes a shareable, branded flyer with your logo, brand colors, and styled sections. Send the link in your stories — no more PDF exports.

🎟️ How RSVPs Work

RSVPs are designed to be fast for guests and trustworthy for organizers.

1. Guest taps Going. If they're signed in, we use their stored info. If not, we send them to sign in and bring them right back to the event after.
2. Pick a tier (if applicable). Tiers show name, time window, price, capacity, and remaining spots. Sold-out tiers offer waitlist.
3. Confirm contact info. Email and phone (optional) — saved on profile so this is one tap going forward.
4. QR code generated for free events instantly, or after payment verification for paid events.
5. Show QR at door. Organizer scans, guest is checked in, scan log records the timestamp + who scanned.

💳 Paid Events — How Payment Verification Works

We do not process payments and we don't take a cut. Pop Up LA gives organizers a verification flow so they can collect payments any way they want — Venmo, Zelle, Cash App, Square, Stripe Pay Link, even cash at the door — and confirm payment manually before issuing the QR.

The flow

1. Guest RSVPs for a paid tier. Status becomes "Pending Payment", spot is held.
2. Guest sees payment instructions on their My RSVPs detail page — exactly what the organizer wrote (e.g. "Venmo @yourhandle, leave your name in the note").
3. Guest pays using the organizer's preferred method.
4. Guest taps "I've Sent the Payment" and optionally uploads a screenshot. Status becomes "Claimed Paid — Awaiting Verification".
5. Organizer reviews the screenshot and either Verifies (QR generated, guest is fully going) or Rejects (guest can re-submit).
6. Reminders + nudges — guests can nudge organizers if verification has been pending more than 24 hours.

Why this works

• You keep 100% of the ticket revenue. We never touch it.
• Use any payment method you want — most organizers prefer Venmo/Zelle for the speed.
• Built-in dispute trail: every claim, screenshot, verification, and rejection is logged.
• If you cancel the event, refund coordination happens in chat with each guest.

🤝 Community Features

• Member profiles — display name, bio, location, social handles (Instagram, TikTok, X), photo gallery. See what events they've been to, posted on the wall, or plan to attend.
• Friends + RSVPs — add friends, see their bookmarks, and find out which friends are going to the events you're browsing.
• Direct messaging — message any member, organizer, or organization directly. Full chat with photo + file attachments.
• Groups — create or join interest-based groups (K-pop fans, vintage collectors, foodies). Each group has its own activity feed and shared events.
• Party Wall — public feed for event recaps, photos, and recommendations.
• Notifications — friend activity, event changes, group posts, RSVP updates, payment status — all in one inbox.

📱 iOS & Android

The full experience runs natively on iOS — push notifications, widgets, complications, watch app, faster QR scanning, and offline-cached events. Download for iPhone.

Android coming soon. Web works on every device — phone, tablet, desktop.

🔒 Privacy & Trust

• We use Apple Sign-In and email auth. No passwords to forget, no third-party data brokers.
• Your contact info (phone, email) is shared with an organizer only when you RSVP — and only with that organizer for that event.
• You can withdraw any RSVP at any time. Your data stops being shared the moment you withdraw.
• Delete your account anytime in Settings. Removes your profile, posts, RSVPs, and messages.
